The Freezer is an essential accessory for most ordinary households. You can also choose a suitable type depending on how long the food is to be preserved by frost.
Perhaps no household today can do without a very practical and necessary device, which is a freezer. If you opt for a freezer, which should be a separate unit and not part of the refrigerator, then you have two options.
Counter or drawer freezer.
Given that we cannot do without a suitable freezer today, we may wonder how our ancestors solved this problem. It's very simple. They used mainly seasonal foods, so preservation was not such an important problem. In addition, they did not make as much supplies as we are used to today.
- The meat could be stored for a long time in a suitably excavated cellar, into which ice blocks were introduced in the winter.
- The second option was to preserve food in various containers.
- And the third option? Invite neighbours and simply consume the surplus together.
The first freezer can be considered a metal case in which ice was stored. If the door did not open and the container was cold, the ice and therefore the food lasted a long time.
